BRT TV, one of the first television channels of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC), began its broadcasting journey in 1963. With a 57-year legacy, the channel has garnered a large audience over the decades. Initially established as Bayrak Radyosu (Flag Radio), it adopted the motto “Bayrak, bayrak, bayrak” (“Flag, flag, flag”). Following the establishment of the TRNC, the station was renamed Bayrak Radyo Televizyon Kurumu (BRT – Flag Radio and Television Corporation).
BRT 1 TV has several sister channels, including BRT 2 TV, BRT 3 TV, BRT Spor TV, Bayrak Radyo, Bayrak FM, Bayrak International, and Bayrak Classic.
On December 25, 2014, BRT 1 TV transitioned to HD broadcasting, and in 2015, it became available on the Türksat satellite, expanding its reach. Additionally, viewers can watch BRT 1 TV live online.
